Have no idea why Amazon won't let us contact them via email anymore - just phone or chat. Naturally, I chose chat.
Harpreet is passing my message onto the community team, and I should hear back from them within 2-3 business days.
Here is the text of my message:
Today on Facebook, I witnessed an author encouraging her fans to upvote (to answer "Yes" to the "Was this review helpful?") a particular review on Amazon - in order to make another review less visible in "Top Reviews"
The author in question is Kim Harrison, and the book is The Drafter. Here are the relevant links:

Screenshot of the Facebook post (in case the post is deleted later): http://archive.is/ucw5W
Link to the particular review the author suggested her fans "agree" with to push the one-star review down in the rankings: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R3QAYX3JV7XMNT/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00P42WN5E (It currently says, "125 people found this helpful." Has there been a spike of voting in the past 24 hours?)
The "Top" 1-star review is buried on the 4th page of overall reviews for this product.
In the Facebook post, the author said there were 380 total reviews for the product at that time. There are now 390 reviews, and according to "Most Recent", out of these 10 new reviews 8 of them are 5-star reviews.
Thank you for listening, and I look forward to hearing your reply to the situation, and what course of action you choose to take.
